Store Etiquette

  • Conduct yourself amiably.
  • Unless you intend to buy an item, do not look over it.
  • Be polite to clerks and employees.
  • Never take a costly item into better light without first asking permission to do so.
  • Haggling and bargaining are considered rude.
  • Pushing or crowding at a counter, or the indulgence in personal remarks, handling the goods in a careless manner, or so roughly as to injure them, lounging upon the counter, or talking in a loud voice, are marks of bad breeding.
  • Always hold the door for another person.
  • It is rude to make unfavorable comparisons between the goods you are examining and those of another store.
  • To avoid fatigue, have your items delivered to your home instead of carrying them.
